The Mandurah Safety Convoy The Mandurah Safety Convoy is a fantastic opportunity for boat owners and their families to enjoy a weekend that’s educational and fun! Take part in an interactive experience unique to Western Australia – an organised overnight trip from the Fremantle Shipping Harbour to the beautiful waterways of the Peel Region in which you: Benefit from the advice and guidance of experienced escorts Tour the Peel Estuary, the Murray and Serpentine Rivers and learn to use the safe approaches and channels Learn how to correctly use safety equipment such as PFDs (Personal Flotation Devices), flares and life-rafts Join in the Quiz Night & DinnerSo if you want to use your boat to visit Mandurah with your family and friends in safety, and really enjoy the benefits of the boating lifestyle – fill out a registration form now and join the Mandurah Safety Convoy ! Participants' Requirements Your boat must be between 6m and 12m in length and be able to maintain a continuous cruising speed of 15-20 knots. Boat Draft and Height Your boat must have a draft of less than 1.2m and be no higher than 6.5m above sea level. Boat Hull and Engine Your boat must have a safe, seagoing hull with a reliable power unit. Boat Insurance Your boat must have full insurance cover. Please note that although escort vessels form part of each convoy and will do their best to render necessary assistance, in the event of a mechanical problem that renders your boat incapable of return to the mainland, it is your responsibility to arrange transport back to the mainland and towing of your boat. Boat Registration Your boat must have a current Boat Registration sticker. Marine Radio Your boat must carry a Marine Radio Safety Equipment Your boat must have on board: Full regulation Safety Equipment. Dinner & Quiz Night Tickets for two (2) people are included in the cost
for the Convoy. Extra tickets can be purchased:
Cost A pen at the Mandurah Offshore Fishing and Sailing Club where you can safely leave your boat overnight Briefing Meeting It is compulsory for at least one adult representative from each boat to attend the Briefing Meeting. Important information and material relating to the convoy will be distributed. If a representative does not attend, and the BIAWA is not notified prior, you will be unable to participate in the Convoy.Accommodation Overnight accommodation at Mandurah (for those not choosing to sleep on board) is the participants' responsibility to organise.Please quote the "Boating Industry Association Mandurah Safety Convoy" for a discounted accommodation rate at: The Mandurah Gates Resort - 9581 1222 Foreshore Motel Mandurah - 9535 5577 The Atrium Hotel - 9535 6633 As there are limited rooms available at the discounted rate, you are advised to make a booking as soon as possible. Fuel Requirements & Refuelling Trip LengthThe Mandurah Safety Convoy is a round trip of approximately 115 nautical miles. Fuel at Mandurah The fuel depot at Mandurah is run by Bailey's. A Bailey's Fuel Card can be purchased over the counter at the Mandurah Offshore Fishing and Sailing Club. Cards are available for $50, $100 and $200 with a $2 Administration Charge.
