Hillarys E Jetty replacement
The Department is currently in the  process of replacing E Jetty at Hillarys Boat Harbour.

 

General Objectives of Hillarys Boat Harbour Structure Plan and Implementation Strategy

The General Objectives guiding the use and development of land and the seabed within Hillarys Boat Harbour for the next 10 years are to:

  1. Enhance the role of Hillarys Boat Harbour as a high quality mixed use facility, predominantly for marine, tourism and recreation purposes;
  2. Improve the appearance, quality, variety of attractions, comfort, safety and efficiency of Hillarys Boat Harbour for the visiting public, tenants and harbour residents;
  3. Improve and better manage vehicle access and egress, parking and public facilities to protect the role of Hillarys Boat Harbour as a regional attraction;
  4. Upgrade pedestrian and cycle access to, from and within the site;
  5. Improve public transport access to and from the Harbour;
  6. Encourage a wider mix of activities, particularly during off-peak times, to obtain better utilisation of existing facilities;
  7. Preclude additional permanent residential development;
  8. Ensure future development is environmentally sustainable and compatible with adjacent Crown recreation reserves;
  9. Facilitate a high degree of secure public access within and to the Harbour;
  10. Develop urban design and landscape guidelines to enhance the harbour-side character of the Harbour;
  11. Within the existing reserve boundaries, confine development to existing leases, allowing for quality upgrading and minor additions to buildings that will not adversely impact on the use and amenity of the harbour; and
  12. Upgrade or better define the interfaces between the Harbour and the surrounding land uses require upgrading, or better definition.

Hillarys Penholders Committee is an action group of penholders in the Hillarys boat harbour who are not associated with Hillarys Yacht Club or BWA.

There are 400 pens, owned and managed by Department of Planning and Infrastructure, and this committee represents their combined voice to the landlord.
