English Inland Waterways Association
It would be brilliant to be able to keep in touch, to see how your organisation develops.
I see some similarities with our own Inland Waterways Association, now with a
large user base, but founded for rather longer than the BWA.
One thing I really appreciate is your emphasis on community, that unique and
no doubt rich mix that sells the 'dream' to boaters. I truly hope that
emphasis on community will never be lost. So many of the better off here
beginning to make waves for those who haven't much, just an old boat but who
love the waterways, for the waterways sake. The true boater you know you can
rely on, if things go wrong, as they can, sadly being driven off.
Our waterways must differ greatly from yours. I wonder what your boaters
would say if my 52' Narrowboat appeared on the Swan river? She'd be a little
slow, against many of the popular boats on Australian waters, I think!
If you have any boaters with an interesting story, I'm interested. The paper I
write for is free, online, and we columnists don't get paid. We write for
boaters, give our time for free.
As you've so kindly given me so much info on your website, I'm attaching a
couple of photographs of my local waterways, for you to see.
Please do keep in touch.
