Mr Brian Clapp
President, Boating Western Australia
P0 Box 1080
Claremont WA
Dear Brian,
I write to provide you with an update on the progress of maritime related projects occurring at the RIA. The Rottnest Island Authority (RLA) is continuing to address boating issues raised through the Rottnest Island Marine Issues Advisory Committee (RIMIAC) and the Honorary Bay Ranger program.
The Maritime Facilities Coordinator (Brad Daw) has been appointed to ensure that the Moorings Positioning Project will be completed prior to the forthcoming summer season commencing. Contractors have been appointed and the field component of the project is to be undertaken in August 2005.
Brad is also in the process of completing a comprehensive report dealing with the issues that have been raised through the relevant stakeholder groups, the Rottnest Island Moorings Trial Evaluation Survey and those addressed in the Rottnest Island Management Plan 2003 — 2007. This report is due for completion in November 2005 and will be made available for stakeholder consultation.
As a gesture of goodwill in response to feedback received, the MA has made a decision to reduce Authorised User fees for the forthcoming year by $33 per vessel. This information will be incorporated into documentation for the 2005 renewal process.
Yours sincerely
Claire Wright
