180 years of maritime history
The port of Fremantle was founded in 1829 and has evolved through almost 200
years of rich maritime history, including host to the 1987 Americas Cup defence.
Attending the Fremantle Boat Show in March/April each year is rapidly becoming a
tradition for thousands of boating enthusiasts and Western Australian families
as they flock to the port city to celebrate its nautical heritage and water
sport in all its forms. The rare combination of on-water and land displays
attracts exhibitors with everything from $1.00 fishhooks to 20m luxury cruisers.
For the third consecutive year the number of floating pontoons to be attached to
the boardwalks of Fishing Boat Harbour will be increased to provide pens for the
rapidly increasing number of large cruisers and yachts on display.
A great time for boating
April is a great time of year for boating – strong summer breezes have gone,
winter rains are months away and the days can be warm and balmy. The selling
season is far from over with buyers looking to replace or upgrade gear or
planning that new boat. The event also provides a great opportunity to ‘ship
out’ discontinued or over-stocked lines.
The boat show represents all aspects of boating and water activities
including luxury cruising, sailing, fishing and scuba diving, snorkelling, jet
skiing, water skiing, wake boarding, wind surfing and kayaking. It also features
entertainment and tourism destinations, next summer’s boat and beachwear, career
information and classes covering everything from fishing tips to marine
navigation and much more.
Promotion Highlights
Over $150,000 in promotion and media exposure will ensure that water sport
enthusiasts will know about the show and when it’s on. The campaign will include
a full colour feature in The West Australian during the week leading
into the event.
The Venue
It makes perfect sense to hold a premier boat show in Western Australia’s
internationally recognised harbour city. Featuring up to 100 large vessels
presented on the water in a working harbour setting, Fishing Boat Harbour, the
home of the 1987 Americas Cup defence, is a focal point for the event.
The land content is presented on Esplanade Reserve Park in the heart of
Fremantle. Located adjacent to Fishing Boat Harbour and a short stroll from the
famous Cappuccino Strip, the park area provides a relaxed festive atmosphere
where enthusiasts and the general public can enjoy all things nautical. With
over 39,000 square metres of ground and water surface and capable of
accommodating boats of any size, the Fremantle Boat Show is rapidly becoming the
people’s favourite boating event.
Dates & Times
The Fremantle Boat Show is a three-day event. Admission is free.
